Fire Ant Lineage

Solenopsis daguerrei

Solenopsis daguerrei does not build its own empire — it takes one.

Unlike most ants, this species is a social parasite. It does not found large colonies in the usual way. Instead, it infiltrates the colonies of other fire ants and targets the queen.

Once inside, it attaches itself to the host queen and begins to take control of the colony’s reproduction.

Over time, the colony shifts.

The original queen is weakened.

The parasite spreads its own lineage.

The colony continues — but it is no longer the same.

It does not destroy the system — it replaces it.
